Vineyard Notes
These vines are planted in one of the warmest locations in the Napa Valley. This vineyard is ideal for ripening mature tannins and flavor in our Merlot grapes. 2021 was a good growing season, so the flavor and tannin development kept pace with sugar accumulation, creating excellent, well-balanced flavors and intense color. Pocai Vineyard brings this Merlot bright fruit and engaging tannin, while the Fig Tree Vineyard has the weight, complexity, and dark fruit core.

Winemaker Notes
The 2021 vintage was an outstanding Merlot vintage. Low yields and high quality surpassed our expectations. Our Fig Tree Vineyard Merlot came online this year, really helping with body and complexity of our Merlot. Blending was fun on this merlot. We went back several times and tweaked the blend to come up with the what might be our best Merlot to date.
