2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum, Fig Tree Vineyard
St. Helena, Napa Valley
This limited-production single vineyard is a true gem. Our 2021 Fig Tree Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon really stood out for its aromas of cherry, raspberry, and candied violet. With floral aromatics and a full and lush body, the black cherry and plum are indulgent and intertwined with savory and herbal notes. Complexity builds with the presence of coffee and chocolate notes. The smooth texture tastes of caramel, a little bit of mint, and more cherry as the finish lingers. This wine is smooth, rich, and elegant and is an exceptionally crafted wine. We are excited to see what else this vineyard brings us.

Awards
Richly fruited and dense, with loam and warm stone accents, this red lets its cassis and blackberry redustion notes unfurl slowly, revealing extra notes of sweet tobacco and bittersweet cocoa along the way. The lengthy finish offers both polish and a growl of terrior. Best from 2025 - 2038. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 94 points, Wine Spectator
Vineyard Notes
Located at end of Crystal Springs Road, this location is a dream for growing grapes in Napa. Tucked at the bottom of Glass Mountain, this land experiences cooler mornings and less intense heat that our other vineyards. Replanted to bear Bordeaux varietals, we are thrilled with the quality this vineyard is bringing. Usually the last of our sites to ripen, the rocky and loamy soil of Fig Tree helps devigorate the vines and improve the tannin structure of the grapes. Since it’s shaded from the early morning sun, peak exposure is late in the day. As the warm ground helps the grapes to ripen, the sun lowers over the Mayacamas, causing the berries to take on a slightly translucent cast
Winemaker Notes
The 2021 vintage will be remembered for low yields with intensely-flavored, small-sized berries and a smooth and uneventful harvest season. The season started off with very little rain, leading to the 2nd year of drought conditions in Napa Valley, Harvest began early. While concerning in the long term, the drought of 2021 resulted in a more natural load on the vines, requiring less pruning and dropping of fruit. The resulting grapes are packed full of flavor. Smaller yields per vine and smaller berry size will result in another amazing vintage from Napa Valley.
The 2021 Fig Tree Cabernet Sauvignon was selected from our best performing section of vineyard. We took careful measures to ensure only the properly mature fruit made it into this wine. This allowed us to acheive maximizing color extraction and tannin structure. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon was gently handled in the winery and hand punched down three times a day. Pressed off early to maintain fresh fruit vibrancy, this wine was aged in 100% new French oak. The wine is given ample time for tannins to combine and the palate to gain weight, structure, and complexity.
